Quite simply these books are enchanting. They will capture a child's imagination and get them to see the world in a new light. Miss Norton never makes a mistake, she is always true to her characters and makes this tale of
the tiny working class family, Pod, Homily and their daughter Arriety who live under the floor boards of the kitchen
of an old house strangely tenable. Her characters are three dimensional, well rounded individuals, Mrs Driver the irracible housekeeper, Mild Eye the Gipsy, Spiller the wild, untamed Borrower and The Boy-convalescing in the big house who 'see's' the borrrower's forcing them eventually to have to escape the ratcatchers dogs and 'emigrate' It's beautifully written, a real classic of children's literature that every child should
should read, forget Harry Potter, get your kids to read the Borrower Story's instead.
