Just love it! December 2, 2008 The best netbook that i ever have, i try acer, hp and msi, this one wins hands up.
My 10-year old couldn't live with its shortcomings December 2, 2008 We bought an Asus EeePC 1000H for our 10-year old daughter. My wife and I both love it for its portability and function (e.g., the battery life is superb and XP Pinball is great on it). However, my daughter couldn't live with a couple of its shortcoming. Most importantly, a lot of the web pages she frequents (e.g., Webkinz) do not fit completely on the screen in its native 1024 x 600 resolution. While there is a dedicated button for switching screen resolution, my daughter did not like either the scaling changes or image degradation that the various choices entailed. Almost as importantly, its trackpad is too sensitive, while the buttons are too stiff. I was shocked when my daughter told me that she'd rather have a larger computer. So she's inheriting my 14" widescreen HP dv1000 and I'm getting a 16" widescreen HP HDX16t. But I think she has her eye on the new Dell Inspiron Mini 12 and its 1280 x 800 screen.
great notebook November 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I added to 2G memory module as an upgrade. the keyboard is a smaller than standard but my big fingers still fit. wifiN connects easily to various networks. I use its bluetooth for an external mouse (so I only use the keyboards finger controls for quick work). The built in camera is perfect for Skype type conversations. I recommend the product. NOTE:the hardrive comes with 2 partitions. At startup I thought the HD size was 1/2 the speced 160G, then found the other 80G in d:.
just what I was hoping for November 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have really wanted a little computer for years. When they started becoming available, I shopped and looked and read reviews assiduously, waiting for the right one. My Asus Eee PC 1000H is the right one for me. I am perfectly satisfied with everything except that durn right pinky finger issue and I intend to attempt to remap it as was suggested by another reviewer (THANKS!). I upgraded to 2 GB memory and found a YouTube video showing how, step by step. Easy peasy. I was realllllllly wanting a puter to do PowerPoint presentations at conferences and this one did beautifully earlier this month. I was afraid it might not be powerful enough. Hah! I scoff in my own general direction! After hauling around an 11 lb. HP 17", this was like nothing and I didn't even have to take it out of the neoprene case as I went through airport security. This little guy is not "computer-lite" - it's the real thing.
Follow-up comment: I used the sharpkeys software to remap/switch my arrow up and shift keys. It was very easy to do and now it's a lot easier for me to type accuratelly! I do have to do some reprogramming of my brain to remember to use the new arrow key for shifting things around in PowerPoint, but no biggie.
To use Trend Micro on the Asus 1000H November 26, 2008 I too had problems with using Trend Micro on the Asus 1000H. It stopped working after installing TM. If you will delete the Eset program, and then install TM, it works perfectly.
