4 out of 5 stars Loveable Fun!   January 6, 2009
Santa brought this puppy for my 4 1/2 year old son. He's really cute. I read the reviews about how if you change the name from Lucky to something different the dog doesn't understand you. So, we kept the name Lucky and haven't had any problems. He really does some cute and funny tricks. I even love to play with him! Very cute!

5 out of 5 stars A GREAT toy for the price!   January 2, 2009
Lucky is a wonderful dog!
I did get it from Target for a bit cheaper, but I would have paid this for it, it is really well made toy!

My almost 2 year old and my 3 1/2 year old LOVE IT.

He has a feature where you dont "have" to tell him what to do, if you pet him he cycles through a few of the things, which is really nice for my 2 year old.

He "understands" enough that sometimes my 3 year old can get him to sit and such. He doesn't always pick up commands because of background noise and such, and my three year old doesn't always say it "clear" enough. But that doesn't matter.

He is SO cute, somewhat cuddly and does SO many things, my kids just ADORE him, I do too! He was the hit of the party at christmas!
I HIGHLY recommend him!!!

5 out of 5 stars Adorable   December 31, 2008
My 7 year old daughter got Lucky, the Wonder Pup, for Christmas and the entire family is amazed at how cute he is. You do have to speak up and clearly for him. And he does sometimes confuse commands, but we haven't found it to be too bothersome. Our own two live dogs confuse commands too, but we still love them! The only thing I'd say is we had to replace the batteries after only one week. That seems rather quick to me, but we will be more vigilant at making sure he is turned "off" when finished playing and see if that makes a difference. Perhaps I was mistaken, but I thought he had automatic shut off. I guess not. Overall, he's adorable, funny and a lot of fun. A great purchase. I'm not sure I'd pay more than 40 for him though. We were fortunate to get him on sale.

5 out of 5 stars big hit on christmas   December 30, 2008
this was my son's most wished for toy this year. He really wanted a dog that could shake paws and saw this on tv and "had to have it". The toy is lots of fun and was a huge hit. The dog responds to many simple phrases like Sit, Lay Down, Sing a Song, Come to Me, Pounce.... there are around 20 or so phrases in all. Our favorite is "Put 'em Up" in which he stands on his 2 hind legs with his front legs in the air... then "Bang Bang" in which falls over and plays dead. It's a riot!

To get Lucky to respond, you first say his name, then wait for him to bark once. Then say the desired command. We have found that sometimes he doesn't recognize the command and will instead make something up. This is also cute. The dog will go into sleep mode and turn itself off when not in use. To reactivate, just touch him on his back (there is a small panel that functions as an on/off panel if held down for longer than 3 seconds).

You can also change Lucky's name if you so desire. Lucky runs on AA Batteries which can be loaded through a battery compartment on his belly underneath a velcro lining of fur. the velcro holds together really well, and my 4yo hasn't tried to get at the batteries at all.

This is a fun, interactive toy and I would recommend for kids of all ages.

5 out of 5 stars Big hit at Christmas. Don't pay $79 for it though!   December 29, 2008
This is a super fun toy though it's not perfect - sometimes it understands your commands, sometimes it doesn't. It takes practice to learn how to talk to Lucky but once your child has it figured out, it's fun! My daughter loves it, and it was a huge hit at Christmas. I am surprised there is a store charging $[...] for it though. We got ours at Target for about $[...] I think. Note, the dog farts and says "uh-oh". My daughter keeps trying to elicit an "excuse me" out of Lucky but so far, no dice.
