Frustrating to install November 24, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have spent over an hour trying to install the software for this thing. It's not working. It won't connect to their webpage to download the audiobooks. If I had known that I would have to connect to the internet for every audio download, I would have never bought this for my daughter. What happened to the good old cartridge you install in the device?? I have tried disabling my firewall thinking it might be blocking it, but it wasn't. So I am giving up and returning it.
Favorite toy till broke November 22, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My two year old learned so much using this tag system. IT would keep him busy for hours. THen out of no where the pen doesnt "read" any of the pages. I tried uininstalling and reinstalling and still nothing. It will play the stories but the interaction with the book is shot. We have only had this three months and for the price it really should have lasted longer. Anyone else have this problem?
I also wish they had more basic learning books, like learning the alphabet and numbers.
We Love the Leap Frog Tag! November 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product is awesome! I love it and so does my 4-year-old son. I really can't say enough good things about it.
My son enjoys using his "Magic Pen" every night to "read" his two books - Ozzie and Mack and Cars Tractor Tipping." Many nights, after I put him to bed, I will hear the pen talking to him and the characters of the book come alive. He reads these so much that he will tell me as soon as he turns the page "Oh, it's Frank!" ... or make the sound effects that the characters make before even placing the pen on the pictures. He also enjoys turning the pen on and just listening to the story without the book.
I really like having the ability to see his progress by going online and checking out his learning path. I can see which questions he answers correctly and how many he gets right. I can even see how long he uses the Tag books.
My son got this system for his birthday in July and the books and pen are still holding up wonderfully - with one exception of one ripped page.
We love this product so much I'm asking for more Tag books and the activity cards for Christmas! I'm super excited for him to get the "I Spy" book.
I would highly recommend this product.
Must have for kids!! November 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I can't say enough good things about this product. We bought this for my son for his 4th birthday and he absolutely loves it. He is very interested in reading, so the gift was perfect. He has 6 books so far and enjoys them so much. The added online capability for parents is outstanding! It's so nice to be able to see what your child is learning and enjoying because sometimes it's different when you're not right there with them. Kudos to Leapfrog - GREAT GREAT GREAT PRODUCT!!
Wonderful tool for 5-year-old while parent is working on homework with older sibling November 1, 2008 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Wonderful product. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.
In the last paragraph I discuss this product's only minus.
My 5-year-old calls Tag "superfun". I love that when I work with my older child doing homework my kindgartner can quietly work right beside us thanks to the headphone jack.
Not only does it "read" the book, it also makes interactive sounds when any picture on the page is touched.
The frustration level is kept to a minimum because my child cannot answer questions (play games) that are too advanced until she masters the lower level questions.
I receive emails from Leapfrog that tell me which books my child listens to the most; how long she played last week and which questions she tends to answer right. The emails also provide learning percentages.
My kindergartner adores when we hook her "Tag" to the computer and she earns prizes. Thus leading into the minus....
Only Minus - The tag "pen" can only be connected to one person so if I want to play or experiment or if my 7-year-old wants to play then my 5-year-olds "accomplishment" and "awards" go askew. Especially because my 5-year-old can't play every level right away. She must unlock various games by progressing and she really looks forward to the "prizes' when she unlocks new leves (printable bookmarks). So if I play or an older child plays we unlock levels she is not ready for and the learning emails become worthless and the prizes do not really reflect her accomplishments.
